Hard-core mountain trucking (sent by Mike High from Alberta, Canada)
"
I drive for Peben Oilfield Services and we deliver drill pipe to the rigs in the foot hills and the Rocky mountains.  Sometimes the roads are so steep and traction is non-existent that loaded we have to be pulled up to deliver our pipe and supplies.  Here are a few pics from one such trip into a drill rig south of Grand Prairie Alberta.  The rigs elevation was 2100  meters (6900 feet) above sea level and the pull was approx 16 kms (over 9 miles) up to the top AFTER we had driven 100 kms on forestry roads.  Every trip is a "chain up" trip in this business.  Not all trucking is done on interstate roads..."
