Underlined text indicates shortcuts to other places in this program. Click on them and understand where they go and how to use them. They will save a lot of time. When opening this program you were probably prompted to "Enable or Disable Macros". You must click "Enable Macros", to allow the restart of 70 hour macro to operate. Restart and Reset are used Interchangeably throughout this program. There is more information about this at the bottom of this page. Click on the links in the light green area to navigate.
There are 10 sections to the TruckerTracker E-log. All 10 sections can be accessed from the "Switchboard" The Switchboard should have been the opening page when you first purchased and opened the program. All sections are numbered 1 thru 10. In this program, you will see some RED triangles at the top right of header cells. Place the cursor on them for more information about the column.
Column "1" Off Duty Hours | If any cell turns green, you may qualify for a restart. You need to make the final decision. The only way you qualify for a restart is to be Off Duty for a minimum of 34 consecutive hours-this may include Sleeper Berth Hours. The key word here is CONSECUTIVE. ONLY YOU CAN DETERMINE THIS. Your daily logs must show 34 hours or more Off Duty Hours to qualify for a restart of hours. The daily logs have a comment section, indicate your restart of hours in this section. If cells turn Red, the hours entered add to more than 24 hours. MUST CORRECT.
What is meant by being in compliance? | If you go over the 70 On Duty hours, you are out of compliance with the law. If this happens, you cannot start your 34 hours off until you are back in compliance. Example: You are 1 quarter of an hour over your 70 total on Duty Hours. The 1 quarter hour shows up the next day on your log. You are not in compliance until the following day. The best scenario is DO NOT GO OVER THE 70 HOUR RULE.
Column "2" Sleeper Berth Hours | It is very important to understand how Sleeper Berth Hours can work in your favor and how they can work against you.
1. After driving the maximum available hours (up to 11) you MUST show a total of 10 hours in the Sleeper Berth before driving again.
2. When qualifying for the reset it is best to not log Sleeper Berth Hours. Log all hours as Off Duty. Off Duty hours are the only hours you do not have to explain where or what you are doing to the DOT Officer.
3. When driving, Sleeper Hours are the ONLY hours that can extend the 14th hour rule providing that, driving hours do not total more than 11 in a 24 hour period and sleeper berth hours total at least 10 before and after each of these driving periods. The 14th hour rule can only be extended by the recorded sleeper berth hours prior to the current driving period. Off duty hours including, but not limited to eating, showering, etc., WILL NOT extend your driving hours past the 14th hour rule.
4. Teams use the sleeper to split driving hours and extend the 14th hour most often, such as 5 on and 5 off. The off time has to be shown as sleeper berth time to extend the 14th hour rule.
Sleeper berth time has to be a minimum of 2 hours each time to count towards extending the 14th on duty hour rule. Anything less than 2 hours will not extend the 14th on duty hour and the driver will have to go off duty the 14th hour from the time the driver logged on as on duty. There is more information, just click on number 1 on the switchboard page.
Column "3" Driving Hours | White cells are the only cells in which you may enter data. All other cells are protected. The driver's e-log starts December 1, 2004. Driving hours are entered in the driver log page from December 1, 2004, thru December 31. Starting January 1, 2005, entries are automatically entered from the "Stop Pages".
Stop Pages | There are up to five "Stop Pages". Some or all of them can be used in any order you need. In each Stop Page starting January 1, 2005, all driving hour entries must be entered in the Stop Pages. The driving hours entered are automatically totaled from the Stop forms and entered into the driver's log page.
Column
"4" On Duty Hours |
On Duty Hours play a role in Total Hours Worked. Although you are not driving, On Duty hours reduce the driving hours available for the following days. You will need to show your inspections, unloading, fueling, and other on duty activities other than driving in this column.
Columns 1, 2, 3, & 4 | These columns show the values that you enter into your paper log book in the appropriate headings. Make sure your entries in your paper log match the values from the this e-log.
What is a restart/reset | What is a restart or a reset? This is an option that a driver can use to restore the Driving Hours to a full 70 hours available. To qualify, the driver must be Off Duty 34 consecutive hours and be in compliance. There is more about compliance above.
UNDO Button | IMPORTANT INFORMATION. READ CAREFULLY! The UNDO Button is located by clicking on the top right cell of the Driver's Daily Log Page. Make sure you record ALL previous resets before you use the large blue UNDO Button. Clicking on this button will remove all resets. It will not remove any data you have entered. You will need to go back and manually reset any previous resets.
